STUDIES

Mendocino Redwood Company broadcast sprays many of the same chemicals found in herbicides that the Forest Service uses in National Forests, including glyphosate (Roundup) and triclopyr (Garlon). This study of “Residues of Forestry Herbicides in Plants of Interest to Native Americans in California National Forests” by the State of California demonstrates how broadcast spraying can drift up to 100 feet the same day as where it is applied and how chemicals can stay within a forest ecosystem for years as the chemicals are dispersed through water into the plants root systems.
